حينما يحثو ولى من أولياء الله كالحسين بن علي عليه السلام في محراب الله مستشعراً عبوديته الكاملة، وعجزه التام وخضوعه المطلق للخالق المهيمن، إنما يعلمنا كيف يجب أن نتعامل نحن العبيد مع الله، وكيف علينا أن نحلق على أجنحة الدعاء إلى آفاقه التي لا حدود لها ولا قيود فيها، فتتحرر الروح تماماً من أصنام الأرض والأرباب المزيفين وتنطلق من عقال الأوهام، وتدرك أنها لا تحقق حريتها وسموها إلا بالتحليق المستمر من القضاء الإلهي. فالدعاء معراج العبد إلى الله، ونافذته الواسعة التي يطل منها عليه، إنه يهذّب النفس ويفصل الروح ويزيح عنها ما علق بها من شوائب ويجعلها نقية صافية قريبة من الله، متجهة إليه. وما أعظم تأثير الدعاء حينما يكون في يوم عظيم من أيام الله مثل يوم عرفة وفي أرض إلهية مقدسة مثل صحراء عرفات... حيث الموقف المصفر ليوم القيامة وحيث يقف الناس من الطبقات والأعراق كافة وجهاً لوجه أمام الخالق العظيم. حينئذ تموت عند العبد كافة نزعات الشر والرذيلة وتتحطم في نفسه صروح الكبرياء وانطلاقاً من ذلك كانت مبادرة العلامة الأستاذ محمد تقي الجعفري في شرح دعاء الإمام الحسين في يوم عرفة وتفسيره، خطوة عملية هدفها صقل الروح وتهذيب النفس ووضع الإنسان على أبواب الله وفي أحواء الله كي يكون عبداً نافعاً في الأرض.
