مؤلف هذا الكتاب هو من أعلام القرن الثالث الهجري، يورد في كتابه هذا جملة من المسائل الفقهية والفتاوى تنتهي أسانيدها إلى الإمام الصادق، وفي بعض منها عنه عن الباقر، في أن البعض الآخر: عنه، عن أبيه، عن علي، وقد يروي عنه عن أبيه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، مختتماً هذا الجزء مبتدءاً بجزئه الثاني كتاب قرب الإسناد عن الرضا عليه السلام. وقد تمّ إدراج مسائل الكتاب وفتاويه ضمن ترتيب الأبواب الفقهية نذكر بعض ما جاء: في الوضوء، الغسل، الصلاة، الزكاة، الصوم، الحج والعمرة، النكاح، الطلاق والمباراة، الحدود، الصيد، الوصية، ما جاء في الأبوين، المكاتب، ما جاء في الأيمان، ما يجوز من الأشياء، الشهادات، أما الجزء الثاني "قرب الإسناد" فقد ضمّ أحاديث متفرقة وأجوبة للإمام الرضا رضي الله عنه.
