إنّ قراءتي للنصّ، آخذاً بالاعتبار "الاجتهاد في الرؤية/ الرؤيا" المفترّضَة فيه كشاعر لتفاصيل الساعات التراجيديّة، المفصليّة للمسيح وللمسيحيّة في جوهرها، أملَت عليّ النتيجة التالية: إنّ تضافر الكتابة المشحونة بطاقة تعبير وتأويل معاً، مع اللوحة الشاهدة بضوئها وعَتْماتها والحركة فيها، هو تضافرٌ متسق لا يخلخله نقص المعرفة، ولا يحرفه شَوَهُ الرؤيا.
وخِلافاً لجميع الفنانين في الغرب، الذين اشتغلوا على موضوعت الإنجيل، وبصرف النظر عن الفترات أو الأزمنة التي عاشوا وعايشوا طبيعة المدارس الفنيّة فيها؛ تميّز كيفن رولي بتصوير المسيح رجلاً شرق أوسطي الملامح، أميَل إلى التوسط في طول جسده وامتلائه وسُمرة البشرة واسوداد الشَّعر، وإنساناً لا يتعالى وجهه على آلام جسده، فكان الخوف والوجَع باديين.
إنها نقطة تُحسب لهذا العمل وفنّانه: إعادة المسيح أخيراً إلى الأرض التي عاش عليها، بملامح وجهٍ ولون بَشرةٍ وإنسانية العذاب في لحظاته كما هو.
“ في كلّ واحد منا هنالك الظلمة والنور. وأن نحكي قصصنا بإلغاء أحد هذين البُعدين هو أن نكون مخادعين لطبيعتنا. في النهاية، مهما كانت، فإنه النور المخترق للظلمة ما أبحث عنه. مع ذلك، تبقى الظلمة حاضرة. إنها تكشف الحاجة إلى النور بينما نرسف ما نزال في هذا المسرح المؤلم لإنسانيتنا.”
