لم يتوقف التفكير الفلسفي منذ بداياته عن الخوض في مشكلة العلاقة بين "الأنا" و"الآخر"؛ ذلك أن التجاوز، إلى جانب وجود إختلافات في اللغة والمعتقدات والثقافات، قد بحث لدى الطرفين الرغبة في إختراق الآخر، وهذا الإختراق بقدر ما هو إيجابي سمع بنوع من التعايش بقدر ما هو سلبي خلق رغبة في تدمير الآخر، فقد لإنه مختلف.
وفي هذا الكتاب ترجم محمد بهاوي نصوصاً في مفهوم "فلسفة التغير" بهدف الوقوف عما راكمه التفكير الفلسفي من رؤى وتصورات في هذه الفلسفة، وذلك من خلال ترجمة وإختيار نماذج ذات صلة بها، وقد بدأها بتتبع تطور فلسفة الغيرية منذ اليونان القديمة قبل سقراط، وفي محاورات أفلاطون، و"نقد العقل العملي" الذي يضعه "كانط" وفلسفة الوجود عند "كيرجارد"، مروراً بمفهوم الإختلاف، والغير عند "محمد عابد الجابري" و"دولوز وغتاري"، وغيرها من حوارات حوتها نصوص أفلاطون، وابن مسكويه ونيتشه، وما قدمه تزفيتان تودورف في نظرياته في مجال التنظير الأدبي، سواء منه الشكلاني أو الوظيفي أو الإستيتيقي، وخاصة دراسته عن "باختين" التي تضمنها مؤلفه "ميخائيل باختين، المبدأ التحاوري"، ثم يعود إلى الفلسفة ويشرح نص "قوة الذات" عند ديكارت "أنا موجود بلا ريب، لأنني اقتنعت، أو لأنني فكرت بشيء، ولكن لا أدري..."، ثم نص "إدراك الآخر" عند إدموند هوسرل، ويليه "الوجود حضور وإنكشاف" عند مارتن هيدغر...
وأخيراً نصوص مترجمة عن العلاقة بين الإسلام والغرب، مثل "مشروعية الإختلاف" عند علي أومليل و"الإسلام والآخر" عند محمد عابد الجابري... وعناوين أخرى ذات صلة.
