يسلط هذا الكتاب الضوء على سيرة حياة الأمير بخروش بن علاّس (توفي سنة 1230ه) ووفقاً للمؤلف "محمد بن زياد الزهراني" : هو الأمير بخروش بن علاّس بن مسعود الزهراني الأزدي ثائر فاتك على غزو الأتراك. ينتهي نسبه إلى أزد شنودة الجرثومة العظيمة من أصول العرب. قال لسان العرب الأسد جرثومة العرب فمن أضل نسبه، فليأتهم هم بسكون السين، والأزد فأبدلوا الزاي سنياً ... الخ.
وعبر صفحات الكتاب أظهر المؤلف صورة بطل باسل هو: <بخروش بن علاّس) حدّد مكانه وزمانه، وخصومه ومواقع عيشه، وقتاله، وانتصاراته، وانتهى إلى نهايته بقطع رأسه وإرساله إلى استانبول.
إلى ذلك، حدد المؤلف الأحياء الباقين من ذريته، وعرّف بهم، وصوّرهم، وحاورهم وأخذ منهم بعض المعلومات التي ما زالت محفوظة في ذاكرتهم.
يتألف الكتاب من سبعة فصول تبدأ بنشأة الأمير بخروش - نضاله ضد الغزو التركي - مدة حكمه - وفاته وأسبابها، مروراً بالإرث الحضاري لقوم الأمير بخروش وأثره في تكوين شخصيته، ومشاهد من غزو الأتراك لديار زهران وغامد في نظر الشعراء وأهم المعارك (أحداث ووقائع) وعن طريقة إعلان الحرب وأدواتها في زمن الأمير بخروش قبل الحكم السعودي ومنها "الزير (الطبل الكبير) ، والمزمار "البوق" ، والسلاح الأبيض (السيف) ، والنبل (السهم) وغيرها.
وأخيراً لمحة عامة عن أعلام بين عمر "السراة" ديار الأمير بخروش بن علاّ المعاصرون.
