في هذه الرواية تتقاطع المعوقات المتعددة وتتصادم، لتفضي جميعاً إلى أحلام... لكن الأحلام في ظل شرطها الاجتماعي تقود إلى شرك يسقط الأبطال فيه تباعاً، لتصل بهم إلى حالة من إعاقة الروح، ولتصبح محاولة الخروج من الشرك، كمن يتحرك في الأوحال، فيأتي سعي الشخصيات للمصالحة أو المهادنة عزفاً آخر على وتر الخيبة، والحاصل واقع جديد من الانكسار والتشظي تسير الشخصيات نحوه في خانق ضيق حتى نهاياتها.
وتنهض البيئة، بما هي مكان وزمان وجو ومفاهيم، عالماً من المعطيات الفاعلة قهرياً في صياغة ملامح الناس في فترة هامة من واقعنا الاجتماعي والسياسي المحكوم بالهدم والأوهام..
واللافت للاهتمام في الرواية أنها تستمد مفرداتها التشكيلية واللغوية من بساطة عالمها الشعبي والمحلي المفعم بصدق التعامل وعفوية الانفعال مع الحدث والموقف الدرامي، وربما تلامسنا عدوى الانفعال هذا، فتظل نتساءل حتى نهاية الرواية: هل يحظى يحيى -البطل المقترح لهكذا عالم- بنصيب منحياة، اشتق اسمه أصلاً منها؟!
