علموا الصحب الكرام الناس القرآن وما فيه من قراءات وأحكام واشتهر بالإقرار منهم "عثمان رضي الله عنه"، (وأُبَيّ بن كعب وعلي وزيد بن ثابت وابن مسعود وأبو الدرداء وأبو موسى الأشعري رضي الله عنهم) وعنهم أخذ الصحابة والذين اتبعوهم بإحسان أخذوا عنهم القراءات، وكلهم يسند قراءته إلى "النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم" وفي أواخر عهد التابعين في المائة الأولى اهتم قوم بالقراءات واعتنوا بضبطها أتم عناية.
ولما رأوا من المساس إلى ذلك بعدما اضطربت السلائق وجعلوها علماً، فكانوا الأئمة الذين يرحل إليهم ويؤخذ عنهم وهم أصحاب القراءات المتواترة وبخاصة القراء السبعة وقراءتهم متفق عليها لكل قراءة سند، ثم أصبح علم القراءات متميزاً فحصرت وجوهه القراءات، وبعد هؤلاء الرؤوس وبعدما انطوت أيامهم فإن القراءات استوثق أمرها وشرع العلماء ينظمون علم القراء شعراً "حرز الأماني" فأقبل العلماء على شرحها وتبسيطها لطلاب علم القراءات منهم الإمام "أبو عبد الله محمد بن أحمد بن محمد الموصلي الحنبلي" المعروف بـ"شعلة"، ولد سنة 623 في حلب وهو رجل فاضل في علم القراءات، ويقال له "ابن الموقع" لأن أباه كان موقعاً عند (خيربك) كافل حلب وهاجر إلى القاهرة بعد زوال الدولة الجركسية وتوفي الموصلي وله مؤلفات منها "كنز المعاني في شرح الشاطبية" الذي قام بتحقيقه "احمد القادري" في هذا الكتاب واحدة مع الإستعانة بكتب القراءات.
ويمتاز شرح "شعلة" عن غيره في الشروح فأسس تأليفه على ثلاث قواعد مبادئ ولواحق، والمقصود من الكلام، الأولى في المعنى اللغوي ورمز لها بالحرف "ب" والثانية في الإعراب ورمز لها بالحرف "ح" والثالثة المقصود من البيت ورمز لها بالحرف "ص"؛ وإنه لكتاب قيم في بابه.
