الشاطبية أهم أرجوزة في القراءات (من 1173 بيتاً) وقد انبرى لشرح هذه القصيدة اللامية الجامعية شراح كثيرون، كان من أبرزهم الإمام محمد بن أحمد الموصلي الشهير "بشعلة" حيث امتاز بشرحه الوافي والمفصل من جهة اللغة والإعراب والمعنى، فرمز بالحرف (ب) إلى شرح اللغة، وبالحرف (ح) إلى الإعراب، وبالحرف (ص) إلى المعنى، كل ذلك بعبارات واضحة وبكلمات موجزة لا تعتقد فيها ولا تطويل ومنهجه أن يبدأ بشرح الألفاظ لغة ثم يثني بالإعراب ثم ينتهي ببيان المعنى المقصود من الأبيات وحل الرموز، ولأهمية هذا الكتاب، اعتنى الشيخ "زكريا عميرات" بتحقيقه وبالتقديم له بمقدمة جاءت بمثابة ترجمة للإمام الشاطبي، والإمام أبي عبد الله محمد ابن الحسين الموصلى المعروف "بشعلة".
