منهج هذا الكتاب هو عرض المثل الإنجليزي بلغته الأصلية مع ترجمة بالعربية، ثم تقديم ما يحوي معناه أو يقاربه باللغة العغربية، بدءاً بالآيات القرآنية الكريمة – إن وجدت – مع بيان اسم السورة ورقم الآية، ثم الأحاديث الشريفة مع ذكر رواية الحديث.
ويتبع ذلك ما يوجد من أمثال فصيحة مناسبة مع التركيز على الأمثال الفصيحة المتداولة في عصرنا، ثم بعض الأمثال الشعبية التي تعيها ذاكرة المؤلف دون الإشارة إلى اسم القطر العربي الذي تستعمل فيه.
وأخيراً أبيات الحكمة من الشعر الفصيح مع ذكر اسم الشاعر في أغلب الأحوال، وقد نظمت الأمثال حسب ترتيب حروف الهجاء الإنجليزية في بداية الكلمة التي اعتبرت الأساسية في المثل، ومُيّزت بجعلها داكنة أكثر من بقيّة كلمات المثل.
