يستعرض مؤلف هذا الكتاب العلامات والدلائل التي تسبق، أو التي تشير إلى اقتراب ظهور المهدي المنتظر، فيصنّف علاماتها بالعشر ويخصص لكل منها فصلا خاصاً بها، ويشرح بإسهاب "الأحداث التي تسبق ظهور القائم". استوعب الكاتب مضمون هذه العلامات، ففرزها ووضعها في جداول، وناقش مصدر الروايات والأحاديث التابعة لها، وقام بجمعها وتقييمها والربط فيما بينها ليخرج باستنتاجات ونتائج عملية.
