يأتي صدور هذا الكتاب ليصب في مجرى الدراسات الجادة التي تستهدف التنبيه إلى خطورة الإسفين الذي دقه المستعمرون الفرنسيون في البنية السياسية اللبنانية، فقد حاول الكاتب عبر الفصول الأربعة من كتابه الذي حمل عنوان "تكريس الطائفية في دستور لبنان عام 1926" من استقراء الواقع اللبناني بعد صدور هذا الدستور، وأبرز نتائجه، وانعكاسه على ما واجهه هذا البلد، والمضمون اللاوطني لدستور 1926 الذي لم يضعه اللبنانيون، ولم تكن كلمة أو صوت مسموع فيه.
يتألف الكتاب من مقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة، تناول الفصل الأول "لمحة سياسية في حياة لبنان التاريخية" مستعرضاً الأدوار التي مر بها هذا البلد، والأحداث السياسية التي وقعت فيه حتى وقوعه تحت ظل الانتداب الفرنسي.
أما الفصل الثاني فتابع المؤلف فيه "الإسلام والتطورات الدستورية" و"مصادر التشريع الإسلامي" و"موقف الإسلام من الطائفية" ورفضه لها لأنها تقسم المجتمع وتعمل على فك عرى الروابط والنسيج الاجتماعي بين أبنائه.
وتطرق الفصل الثالث إلى "نشأة الدولة اللبنانية" الحديثة وإعلان دستور 1926 الذي جاء في قالب فرنسي لشعب عربي وخطورة صدوره في مرحلة تاريخية حرجة كانت ثمرتها الأمة العربية بوجه عام ولبنان بوجه خاص.
وبحث الفصل الرابع بشيء من التفصيل التعديلات التي جرت على الدستور اللبناني عام 1926 والتي لم تمس جوهره بشيء وإنما كانت تعديلات تقتضيها المصلحة الفرنسية وما ترتب على تعديلي عامي 1927 و1929 من نتائج وخيمة على الشعب اللبناني الذي ظل يعاني من هيمنة الظاهرة الطائفية وأضحت المسمار الأول في نعش السلطة عبر المراحل التي أعقبت إعلان الدستور.
إن أهمية صدور هذا الكتاب تكمن في أن الظاهرة الطائفية-السياسية طغت في المرحلة الراهنة على سطح الأحداث لا في لبنان فحسب، وإنما امتدت لتشمل بطابعها السلبي أقطاراً عربية أخرى، الأمر الذي يضعنا أمام كتاب نبه إلى أن كل الظواهر السلبية التي علقت بالواقع العربي استفاد منها المستعمرون لضرب وحدة الأمة العربية ومنع أبنائها من أن يمتلكوا ناصية حكم بلادهم ويحققوا لها الاستقلال الناجز على كل سيطرة أجنبية.
