كان هذا الكتاب من الإصدارات التي حاولت التعرف على ابداعات الخيال في الثقافة الإنسانية عن طريق التعرف على بنية الخيال في مسارها والذي يعتبر مفتاح كل دراسة لعلم الإنسان، ولكل العلوم الإنسانية بما فيها الفنون التي تجسد وتحمل بنية خيال مجتمعاتها. يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن المحاولات التي من شأنها تجديد المسرح القومي الخلاق أو المبدع الذي بدأ منذ عام 1930 الذي كان الوقت المناسب لبلورة هذه المحاولات نتيجة للتدهور المالي لهذه الفترة، على عكس الفترة من عام 1910 حتى عام 1930 والتي هي فترة ركود بالنسبة للإبداع المسرحي في الأرجنتين على الرغم من الرخاء الذي نعمت به الأرجنتين في فترة مابعد الحرب العالمية الأولى. ولا ريب أن سنة 1930 تمثل أزمة حادة في الأرجنتين، ومن المستساغ أن يسعي الفنانون والنثقفون إلى البحث عن أرضية مشتركة خلال هذه الفترة. وحيث أن هذه الدراسة لاتحاول أن تؤرخ للمسرح الأرجنتيني في الفترة من عام 1930 الى عام 1955، بل تحلل عن قرب سيميولوجيا المسرح لبعض النصوص الرئيسية في هذه الفترة. تهدف التحليلات في هذا الكتاب إلى استعراض الكيفية التي تضحى بها عملية استغلال التقاليد من أجل تحقيق الاستعارات الدرامية غير الطبيعية
