لِمَ تنظرون إِليّ هكذا نظراتِ إدانةٍ وإزدراء؟! أحضروا مرايا واجلدوا أنفسكم بها.
انتم الأحقّ بالجلد. أين كنتم وعامل الفندق يلقي بحقيبتي في الشارع بعد نفاد نقودي؟... أين كنتم وأنا أتلوّى جوعاً في الطرقات؟... أين كنتم والدموع تخمش وجهي حافرةً فيه أخاديد من ألمٍ وهمّ؟ تنظرون إليّ وكأنّه كان بيدي خيار آخر.
أرجوك سيّدي القاضي أعطهم مرايا، ومُرهُم أن يمسكوا بها لآخر الجلسة، وكلّما رغبوا في عقابي اصرخ بهم لينظروا إليها، وأنت أيضاً، أنت أيضاً أمسِك بواحدة.
لا تعتقد أنّك أفضل حالاً منهم.
ولأنّ القادم خطير، مُرهُم أن يستمرّوا بالتحديق فيها حتّى أنتهي...
