"هذا هو عصمت الندام الذي ظل لغزاً محيراً لي منذ الأيام الأولى لتعارفي به، وجل طموح أي إنسان يواجه لغزاً محيراً أن يهتدي إلى ما ينهي حيرته ويريحه من عناء التوتر والتكهنات. وها أنا أتنطح للمهمة في خطوة ما تخيلت على الإطلاق أنها تقود إلى الإطلاع على كارثة مرعبة.
أحسست أن عصمت يريد أن يختبئ من ماضيه وحاضره بين ثنايا مستقبل مجهول لا يعرف منه وجهاً ولا قفا. يريد أن يهرب من ماضيه، من جغرافيته وتاريخه إلى جغرافية يعيش فيها بلا تاريخ، بلا ماض، بلا أهل أو ناس. إلى بلد قد يجد فيه ما يمكن أن يسعده، ويمكن أيضاً ألا يجد فيه رصيفاً قادراً على احتواء شتات روحه".
إن كتابات وداد هي جزء من هذه الحركة العالمية نحو العودة إلى الجذور. الاهتمام بالإنسان ليس ضمن الشعارات فقط، وهي جهد من كاتبة (قروية) خبرت العالم، للدفع باتجاه أنسنة التنمية في ظل التيار النيو-ليبرالي الجارف. في ظل الصمت المحلي والإقليمي والعالمي... تصدح وداد بصوتها اللطيف والمفعم بالنشاط والحيوية لتذكرنا، وبدون كلل، بأنه ما زال هناك أمل لبديل إنساني -جذوري، تقولها بدون وجل أو مواربة، تقولها كما هي.
