إنَّ هذا الكتاب الذي نحقِّقه اليوم وننفض عنه غبارَ القرون الماضية، ألَّفه الإمام الكبير، الذي لا تكاد الأعصار تسمح له بنظير، بهجة الهند وإمام محدثي ديارها الشيخ أبو المجد عبد الحق بن سيف الدين الدِّهْلَوي الحنفي.
وتتجلى أهمية هذا الكتاب من النقاط التالية: "أنَّه مِنْ تأليف عالمٍ جليلٍ، وضع أسس النهضة العلمية حديثاً وفقهياً في الديار الهندية، وما نراه اليوم مِنْ ثمار هذه النَّهضة في تلك البلاد إنَّما هو مِنْ جهود هذا الإمام الجليل، رحمه الله.
"أنَّه يحتوي على أسانيد أعلام من الحرمين الشريفين والهند، لم يشتمل عليها "ثبت" أو "مشيخة" غيره"، "أنَّه مظهرٌ مِنْ مظاهر الإتصال بين الهند والحجاز ومشايخها"، "إنَّه مصدرٌ مهم في التعريف بمشايخ الشيخ المحدث عبد الحق الدِّهْلَوي ومروياتهم، ولولاه لما تعرفنا على أسانيدهم، فكان قد ضاع منا ما كان يجب حفظه".
ومع أهمية هذا الثبت فقد ظل في حكم المفقود، وآلمني عدم وجود نسخ جيدة في بلد المؤلف، وإهمال مشايخ تلك البلاد لهذا السفر النفيس، مع إهتمامهم بأثبات ومشيخات المتأخرين الذين هم من الآخذين عن تلاميذ تلاميذه.
