عكف الباحث، في هذه الدراسة الأكاديمية المميّزة، على تأصيل مختلف أبعاد العملية الإصلاحية في الحالة الفلسطينية، وذلك في سياقها التاريخي الممتد منذ النشأة وحتى وقتنا الراهن، مما كان له أكبر الأثر في الحفاظ على وحدة وترابط الموضوع والظاهرة محل الدراسة. فقد قدّم الباحث مقاربة علمية لنشأة النظام السياسي الفلسطيني والقوى الفاعلة فيه خلال مرحلة مهمة من مراحل تطور هذا النظام، وناقش تداعيات هذه النشأة وتأثيرها في عمل مؤسسات النظام، وفي مجمل أدائها فلسطينياً وعربياً ودولياً، كما قدّم تحليلاً علمياً للدوافع والمشكلات التي استوجبت العمل على إصلاح مؤسسات النظام السياسي الفلسطيني، من جهة، وما قدّمه هذا النظام من برامج ومقترحات فلسطينية للإصلاح ومدى الاستجابة لها، ولا سيّما على صعيد منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية، من جهة أخرى.
كما عُني الباحث بمقاربة حالة "الانقسام" التي شابت النظام السياسي الفلسطيني، فاستعرض المبادرات الفلسطينية والعربية التي سعت إلى إنهاء الانقسام وتحقيق المصالحة الفلسطينية. كما قدّم آليات ومقترحات من المتوقع أن تساهم في معالجة الكثير من الإشكاليات التي تواجه النظام السياسي والقضية الفلسطينية على حدٍّ سواء.
