غسان زقطان هو شاعر فلسطيني مؤلف عشر مجموعات من الشعر. وهو أيضا روائي، محرر. ولد في بيت جالا بالقرب من بيت لحم، وعاش في الأردن وبيروت ودمشق وتونس. كتابه "كطير من القش يتبعني" المترجم من قبل فادي جودة حصل على جائزة جريفين للشعر، 2013. ظهر اسمه مرتين بين الفائزين بالجوائز القصيرة في جائزة نيوستاد الدولية للأدب في سنوات 2014، 2016 / جامعة أوكلاهوما، التي تعتبر مثل جائزة نوبل الأمريكية. واعترافا بإنجازه ومساهمته في الأدب العربي والفلسطيني، حصل غسان زقطان على وسام الشرف الوطني من قبل الرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس في حزيران / يونيو 2013. وظهر اسمه لأول مرة في خريف عام 2013 ضمن قائمة التكهنات لجائزة نوبل في الأدب. وترجمت أعمال غسان زقطان إلى الإنجليزية والفرنسية والإيطالية والنرويجية والألمانية وغيرها من اللغات.
النشأه
ولد في عام 1954. كان والده خليل زقطان شاعرا. من 1960 إلى 1967، عاش في كرامة. تخرج من كلية تدريب المعلمين، نور، الأردن. من 1973 إلى 1979، كان مدرس التربية البدنية. وكان رئيس تحرير البيادر. وقد شغل منصب المدير العام لدائرة الأدب والنشر بوزارة الثقافة الفلسطينية. وكان رئيس تحرير الشوراء من 2000-2004 ومدير بيت الشعر. وهو مستشار للسياسات الثقافية في جمعية الرعاية، وهو عضو في المجلس التنفيذي لمؤسسة محمود درويش. زقطان يكتب عمود أسبوعي في صحيفة الأيام. ظهر عمله في تريكوارتلي. وهو يعيش في رام الله.
جدل التأشيرات
وفي عام 2012، ألغيت قراءة في معهد ولاية نيويورك للكتاب بعد تأخيرات التأشيرة.
وفي عام 2013، تم رفض منحه تأشيرة دخول إلى كندا. بعد احتجاج من الكتاب البارزين، تم منح تأشيرته.
