مع أن الفكرة التي أقدم على تنفيذها بدت له، منذ أن ومضت بذهنه، تافهة ومضحكة إلى حد ما، إلاّ أنه حاول أن لا يفكر بشيء، أو كما قال لنفسه بتهكم، أن يقفل مكتب تفكيره ويمنح عقله إجازة قصيرة، ويرسل به إلى دار استراحة، هنالك حيث الماء والخضرة والطبيعة الغناء، أملاً في أن يمنحه هذا فرصة لغربلة أفكاره وتصفية ذهنه، حتى يستقر على رأي ما، ويتّخذ قراره النهائي، أو ربما تخفف عنه، هذه الإجازة، وطأة المعاناة وأرق الليالي الطويلة، أو لعله أراد بذلك التهرب من حشد هائل من الأسئلة الملحاحة التي كانت تطرق رأسه طرقاً عاصفاً.
لكنه عندما ارتقى درج فوهة الميترو المفتوحة كفم الحوت وسط بحر الناس، والتقت عيناه بالطابور الطويل الملتف حول سياح حديقة المتحف كالحبل، تصنّع الجد، واعتبر نفسه واحداً من هؤلاء الناس المتجمهرين بوقار بغية ارواء نفوسهم العطشى بمشاهدة تحف الفن التشكيلي العالمي، والواهبين لذلك بسخاء يوم عطلتهم الأسبوعية، بل وتجرأ أن يردد مع نفسه "تروم العز ثم تنام! يغوص البحر من طلب اللآلئ" ولصق نفسه بذيل الطابور ينتظر.
