في كتابه هذا، يبحث الدكتور عودة الله منيع القيسي في الإعجاز اللغوي في آيات الصيام، ويبدأ بمقدمة عامة عن أنواع الإعجاز في القرآن الكريم، وأهمها الإعجاز اللغوي لأنه يرد في كل آية من آيات القرآن الكريم، مروراً بما ورد في الدراسات السابقة التي تناولت الإعجاز اللغوي في القرآن ومنها ما قدمه عمرو ابن بحر الجاحظ (ت 255) في كتابه "نظم القرآن" مروراً بالباقلاني صاحب "إعجاز القرآن" (...) والإمام عبد القاهر الجرجاني في كتابه دلائل الإعجاز" حيث يقدم المؤلف قراءته لأكثر من كتاب وضع في هذا الباب، بعد ذلك يستخرج آيات الصيام من القرآن الكريم وهو (تسعة عشر آية) يشرحها،ويفسرها، ويعرب مفرداتها بهدف تلمس الإعجاز اللغوي في كل ىيات الصيام، وإذا كان لنا أن نقرأ شيئاً مما كتبه المؤلف في (خامساً): قال تعالى، تخفيفاً على الناس في شهر رمضان (فمن شهد منكم الشهر فليصمه ومن كان مريضاً أو على سفرٍ فعدة من ايامٍ أخر (البقرة: 185) إن تكرار قوله تعالى: [ ومن كان مريضاً أو على سفر فعدة من أيام أخر ] بعد وروده في الآية (184) يشير إلى أن الصيام في شهر رمضان غير الصيام الذي كان يصومه الصحابة – رضوان الله عليهم – في بدء ظهور الإسلام، والذي كان ثلاثة ايام من كل شهر، بل في أول شهر ...". وهكذا يبدأ المؤلف في شرحه لكل آية من أيات الصيام باحثاً عن الإعجاز اللغوي فيها.
