الفنّ في زمن الإرهاب كما الحبّ في زمن الكوليرا (1985)، هو حبّ ينفتح على تشريح جثّة، ثمّ يمرّ عبر لقاء جنائزي بين عاشق قديم وأرملة حزينة، كما لو كان غارسيا ماركيز وفق عبارات جميلة لفتحي المسكيني "يغمس الحبّ في الموت وكأنّه صلصة ميتافيزيقيّة حيث يغرق البشر في وحل الآلهة بلا سبب واضح سوى قوة السرد".
كذا الفنّ في زمن الإرهاب: قدره أن "يغمّس الحبّ في الموت" علّه يجعل الحياة ممكنة مرّة أخرى، لأن في الفن ضرباً من العشق القديم الذي يرغب في إستحضار الحبّ حتّى وهو بإزاء جثة، ويرغب بإغراء محبوبه على صُلب لقاء جنائزيّ.
يولد الفنّ دوماً كما يولد الحبّ على حافة جحيم ما، هو جحيم ريمبو الذي ينادينا في صوت مارد مخيف أن "أعيدو إبتكار الحبّ"، أو في مرثيّة هولدرلين "الخبز والنبيذ" حيث وُلد السؤال "لماذا الشعراء في الزمن الرديء".
