مصنف هذا الكتاب هو "محمد بن قايماز الذهبي" أبو عبد الله: الحافظة المؤرخ، والمحقق العلامة -ولد سنة 673هـ في قرية كفربطنا من قرى غوطة دمشق ويقال أنه تركماني الأصل، من أهل ميافاريفين، عني بن قايماز بالقراءات منذ صغره، وبرع في التاريخ، فصنف فيه الكثير من التآليف المفيدة والهامة. والكتاب الذي بين أيدينا يدخل ضمن أ÷م الكتيب التي صنفها في العقيدة وقد عالج فيه مسألة تعد من مسائل الأسماء والصفات، بل ومن أهم مسائل العقيدة وأخطرها، وهي مسألة وجود الله تعالى فوق المخلوقات، وهو يعتمد من إثبات ذلك على أدلة من الكتاب والسنة وأقوال الصحابة والتابعين.
