"في أواخر القرن الخامس الهجري، في ظلّ الصراعات المذهبيّة المحتدمة بين إمارات جنوب شبه جزيرة العرب، وفي بيئة ذكوريّة قاسية، حكمت منطقة جبلة امرأةٌ امتدّ سلطانها لأكثر من 50 عامًا من دون جيش يحميها سوى بعض دعاة المذهب الإسماعيلي الباطني… والجواري.
في المدرسة الملحقة بالقصر، ربّت الملكة أروى الصليحيّة جواريها على فنون الإغواء والحديث والولاء المطلق لها، وبهنّ أخضعت أمراء القلاع والحصون. من بين أولئك الجواري، برزت شوذب التي حازت ثقة الملكة. تلك الجارية المحنّكة، التي تعدّدت أسماؤها وأحاط اللبس بأطيافها، ستحكم باسم سيّدتها في السرّ لمدّة طويلة بعد رحيلها وذلك بناءً على طلب زميلاتها اللواتي أدركن أنّ كتمان خبر موت الملكة هو السبيل الوحيد لاستمرار سلطانهنّ.
وشوذب، أو مهما كان اسمها، لم تكن محبوبة الملكة فقط، بل كانت العشق العاصف المحرّم الذي عذّب كاتب الملكة جوذر، فأرّق لياليه وأحرق أيّامه.
إنها مملكة النساء التي ستنتهي أيّامها بموت شوذب، لتشتعل الحروب بين دعاة الحق الإلهي من زيديّين وسنّة وقبليّين وسلاليّين، فتنقسم المملكة إلى ممالك…
إنّها قصّة الأمس… إنّها قصّة اليوم…"
