في كتاب "رحلة إلى أرض لا يحكمها الله" يُمارس الكاتب إبراهيم بن حمد المنيف نوعاً من النقد للمفهوم اللاهوتي من دون الخروج على النص بوصفه مطلقاً، متعالياً، وثابتاً ما يحمل قارئه على إعادة ترتيب العلاقة مع الله تعالى ومع الناس، وفي نفس الوقت يمارس حريته في التفكير والإعتقاد والسير بإتجاه إخضاع الأفكار للنقد ولكن بأدوات الدرس المعرفي والفحص العقلي وبصورة حرة ومستقلة.
في ضوء ما سبق يوضح المؤلف أن "محتوى الكتاب عبارة عن جوار بين مؤمن وملحد، وهي في الأساس حواراتي أنا مع عدد من الملحدين عبر سنوات مضت، وقد نقلت في هذا الكتاب أهم التساؤلات وأكثرها شيوعاً بين الملحدين، وهذه التساؤلات دائماً ما تكون المحور الأساسي والمهم في حواراتي ونقاشاتي معهم، ولذلك جعلتهم جميعاً في شخصية واحدة في هذا الكتاب، وهي شخصية الملحد، وقد اخترت لشخصية الملحد اسم (نمرود)، وأما شخصية المؤمن فقد اخترت له اسم (إبراهيم)، وذلك لأني كنت أنا الطرف المؤمن بــ (وجود الله) في كل تلك الحوارات والنقاشات".
وعليه، يتم تظهير النص بإيراد عدد من المقاطع الحوارية التي تحمل مضمونها، وهي ذات ميسم إستفهامي يحضر في النص بقوة، ففي سياق الحوار يبدو نمرود وقد ملأت ذهنه عشرات الأسئلة عما يجري في هذا العالم من حروب وكوارث لا يجد لها جواباً، إلى درجة أن اليأس بدأ يتسلسل إلى نفسه، فقرر أن يهاجر، ولكن هجرة من نوع آخر، لقد قرر أن يهاجر "هجرة فكرية"، وقد فضل ألا يهاجر وحده، بل عزم أن يشاركه في هذه الهجرة صديقه المقرب إبراهيم، وبدأ يلمح لصديقه (إبراهيم) بأن يهاجرا "هجرية فكرية" من (الأرض التي يحكمها الله) إلى (أرض لا يحكمها الله)، ومع مرور الزمن، انقلب (التلميح)، وتحوّل إلى (إلحاح) شديد.
ولأن إبراهيم لا يقبل إلا بالعقلانية والمنطق والحكمة، فقد طلب من نمرود أن يعطيه أسباب منطقة لترك هذه الأرض، والهجرة إلى أرض لا يحكمها الله... وكانت جلسة مصارحة بين الصديقين اتبعوا خلالها الرأي الأقرب للحق والصواب!... ومن هنا تبدأ الحكاية.
