وإن هذا الكتاب هو واحد من هذه السلسلة: فقد اشتمل على وصف لأماكن ومغامرات وسط العواصف وغيرها مما يعرض للمسافر؛ كما تضمن وصفاً دقيقاً لبلاد المشرق التي زارها الكاتب في رحلته؛ وهي الجزائر وتونس وطرابلس الغرب وإسكندرية مصر وأرض المقدس وإسطنبول وغيرها.
وقد امتدت أحداث هذه الرحلة على أكثر من سنة بقليل من النصف الأول من القرن الثامن عشر، فإن تساءل المرء ما الفائدة من هذا الكتاب ورفوف المكتبات مليئة بكتب الرحلات؟!...
فالجواب أن الرواة لا يرون كلهم شيئاً واحداً، بل يلاحظ كل منهم أشياء مختلفة عما لاحظه غيره، ويدون بالتالي أشياء مختلفة عما يدونه غيره، ناهيك عن تفاوت مستوياتهم الفكرية.
وقد تكمن أهمية هذا الكتاب كون المؤلف دون ملاحظاته في أثناء وجوده في الأماكن التي زارها، إضافة إلى أنه دونها لمتعته الشخصية لا للنشر.
