في قناعة منه أن الحضارة الإسىلامية مهدت للحضارة الأوروبية يجمع الأستاذ علي محمد علي دخيل كلُ ما كُتب عن حضارة المسلمين وتاريخهم وعلمائهم في كتب الأوروبيين. "ورحت أبحث عن الحقيقة فرأيت أن اترك مقولة المسلمين وأبحث الموضوع في أوراق الأوروبيين، وأعتمد على كتاباتهم، وأقدم للقراء بعض ما حصل لدي. لقد وجدت أن لبعض المؤلفين الغربيين كتباً مستقلة في ذلك، وعلى سبيل المثال (مونتجومري وايت) وكتابه "فضل الإسلام على الحضارة الأوروبية" وغيره كثير". وبين أولى صفحات الكتاب ومنتهاه، سجّل حافل بما ورّد عن فلاسفة ومفكرين غربيين أثنوا على حضارة الإسلام في جميع العلوم، في الفلسفة والطب والعلوم النظرية والتطبيقية: الكيمياء والفيزياء والجبر والرياضيات والهندسة والفلك والزراعة والصناعة وغيرها. وختم الكتاب ببعض سير علماء المسلمين كالحسن إبن الهيثم والإدريسي والبيروني وغيرهم.
ويختتم المؤلف كتابه بالقول: "كانت هذه الصفحات إلمامة سريعة بجانب واحد من ماضينا المجيد، والذي أعتقده أن كل مسلم يطمح إلى استعادة ذلك الماضي، وأن يعيش في ظله، والطريق الوحيد إلى ذلك أن يلتزم كل واحد منا بما أوجبه الله جل جلاله عليه، لا سيما والفرد لبنة من لبنات المجتمع [إن الله لا يغير ما بقومٍ حتى يغيروا ما بأنفسهم وإذا أراد الله بقومٍ سوءاً فلا مرد له وما لهم من دونه من والٍ] والله جل جلاله في عون العبد ما دام سائراً في طريق الإستقامة والسداد.
