يبدو لي نص الشيخ الصفار نصاً فكرياً ومعرفياً بامتياز، ونصاً إسلامياً معاصراً بامتياز لا تقتصر قيمة نصه على حجم المعارف الإسلامية فيه، من فقه وحديث وتفسير وعقيدة وتاريخ، ولكن قيمته تكمن-أيضاً-في وعي متقدم لثقافة العصر الراهن، وأزماته وإشكالياته.. وهي مشحون بالمعرفة وبالقلق في آن..
في نص الشيخ الصفار نقف على وعي متقدم لطبيعة الخطاب الإسلامي، فهو بالرغم من كونه خطاباً موصولاً بالتراث شديد الاتصال به إلا أنه خطا بموصول بأشد الأواصر بطبيعة عصره ومشكلاته وأزماته وحساسيته الخاصة والمعقدة، وهذا ما يجعل منه (أي من الخطاب) إضافة مضيئة، وليس مجرد استعادة أو تكرار لمقولات التراث.
في أدب الشيخ الصفار ومساجلاته، ووعيه المتقدم لحقائق التعدد والتنوع في الفكر والاجتماع والسياسة وهذا الوعي وإن كان مصدره ثقافة العصر الراهن، إلا أنه مؤسس على قواعد قرآنية أصيلة، تمكن الكاتب من بلورتها بعمق ودراية علمية متقدمة. ولست أحسب أن الشيخ الصفار كان بوسعه أن يقف بهذا العمق على مسائل الحوار والتعدد لو لم تكن له تلك التجربة الحية ي خوض مسائل الإصلاح والتغيير، والاضطلاع بمهمات التحول والتجديد في إطار مجتمعه خاصة، وفي إطار المجتمع العربي والإسلامي بصورة عامة.
