دعبل بن علي الخزاعي، من أجود شعراء العرب، له شعر كثير مجموع في ديوان وكان مشهوراُ في العصور السابقة لكنه مفقود اليوم. نظم في جميع فنون الشعر، وقد أدى القهر والظلم إلى إتلاف ديوان دعبل، بعد أن لاحقته السلطة للقضاء عليه واضطهاده لمهاجمته الخلفاء والحكام. وأشهر قصائده تلك التي مدح فيها أهل البيت عليهم السلام. وقد كان دعبل شاعراً فصيحاً، متفنناً في فنون الشعر، مادحاً، وهجاءً لاذع الهجاء، مدح الملوك والأمراء، وأخذ جوائزهم وهجا جملة منهم، وهذا الديوان مقسم إلى قسمين: القسم الأول يتناول الشعر المحققة نسبته إلى دعبل من دون سواه من الشعراء. وأما القسم الثاني فيتناول الشعر الذي نسب إلى دعبل مع آخرين غيره.
