لقد جذب انتباهي بعض المصطلحات التي نعتت بها بعض ظواهر اللغة، وذلك عندما كنت أتصفح كتب التراث النحويّ واللغويّ، وكنت عندما أقرأ هذه المصطلحات أقف حائراً متسائلاً حول العلة والسبب التي دفعت النحاة إلى إطلاق مثل هذه المصطلحات على مثل هذه الظواهر. إلاّ أنني لا أخرج لهذا السؤال بإجابة محددة في تلك الكتب، إذ أطلقت هذه المصطلحات دون توضيح لحدودها وأسبابها وعللها، ومن هنا رأيت أن أبحث هذه الظاهرة التي اتسع انتشارها في الكتب التي أشرت إليها سابقاً، وقد اخترت له عنوان (طعن النحاة واللغويين في لغات العرب)، وهدفت منه أن أقف على عدد هذه المصطلحات، ومن ثم أقف على حدودها في اللغة والاصطلاح، ومن خلال ذلك أفرّق بين هذه المصطلحات في دلالاتها، وسبب إطلاقها على بعض الظواهر اللغوية، وقد وجدت أن هذه تتجاوز أربعة عشر مصطلحاً، ذلك وهي منعزلة عن غيرها من الوصوف، ووجدت كذلك أنها تتنوع بين مصطلحاتٍ تتعلق بالجانب الكمي، وأخرى تتعلق بالجانب النوعي للغة من حيث القوة والضعف، والنوع الآخر يرجع إلى طبيعة اللغة في تطورها، وهجرها لبعض الكلام، والاستغناء عنه بغيره، وقد جاء كتابي هذا في ثلاثة فصول
