إن هذا التأليف قد سمَيناهُ روضة مواد مختلفة لا خُطبّاً أو رياضات روحيَّة لأننا وإن كنَّا قد اعتنينا بأن نجمع المادة الخصوصية لكل بمفردهِ من هذه المقاصد المذكورة، فمع ذلك لم يترتب لكل موضوع بمفردهِ خطاب منتظمٌ، ولم نسهب في شرح المعاني بل هذه الأشياء قد أعلنت بإيجاز ودون سبك.
وهذا فعلناهُ قصداً لكي ينتخب منها القارئ تلك الشهادات والتعاليم والتصورات التي يستحسنها، ثم يوضحها بأحسن نوع صائغاً منها خطاباً خصوصيّاً من عندهِ لأن الإختبار يبيّن لنا أن الواعظ بصعوبةٍ ينذر بحرارةٍ روحية بتلك المعاني والإفادات التي لم يخصِّصها بذاتهِ قبلاً قلما يكون بإنتخابه إياها من بين تلك الأشياء الكثيرة التي يحدها بهذا الخصوص او يرتبها وينظمها ويوسعها متى شاء إن يعظ بها.
ولهذه الغاية قد أوردنا شهادات كثيرة من علماء كثيرين مع أنها تُفسَّر بمعنى واحد لكي ينتخب منها القارئ ما يروقهُ، فذكرنا ذلك هنا إيضاحاً لغاية تأليفنا هذا.
