يتحدث المؤلف في هذا الكتاب عن سيرة كل من الإمام علي عليه السلام الإمام زين العابدين عليه السلام، الإمام الباقر عليه السلام، الإمام جعفر الصادق عليه السلام، الإمام الرضا عليه السلام، الإمام محمد الجواد عليه السلام، الإمام الهادي عليه السلام، الإمام العسكري عليه السلام، الإمام المهدي عليه السلام، وذلك على ضوء ما جاء عنهم في كتاب الكريم والسنة النبوية الشريفة وأقوال الصحابة والتابعين والعلماء والسنة رضوان الله عليهم.
هذا ولم يكتف المؤلف بذكر سير هؤلاء الأئمة بل تحدث أيضاً عن فضائلهم وذلك بحسب ما ورد في السنة المطهرة وقد اعتمد في الغالب الأحاديث الصحيحة، ثم ذكر فضائلهم وإن وردت بأحاديث ضعيفة في بعض الأحيان، حيث إن الحديث الضعيف مقبول في باب الفضائل عند جمهور العلماء.
