بلغ مصاب المسلمين بموت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم حداً تعجز الألسنة عن ترجمته والكلمات عن بيانه، وظلت في قلوب المؤمنين غصته وقد عبر محبو آل البيت عن حبهم وحزنهم بطرق شتى، وأسعف البعض منهم أنه قادر على التنفس عن حزنه واسفه بالعبارة التي تجسد عمق مشاعره وصدق حبه وولائه. وإن تلك الفاجعة المروعة التي أوردت بسيد شباب الجنة يجد المؤمنون لها حرقة في قلوبهم لا تنطفئ حتى تقوم الساعة.
وفي هذا الديوان بعض من تلك القصائد التي تجسد الوجد والحزن، سطرها يراع الشيخ حسين البوخضر وجادت بها قريحته وهي من وحي تلك المأساة الكبيرة التي هزت وجدان كل مؤمن وقد تعددت مواضيعها ومناسباتها. أرادها أن تكون مواساة للمؤمنين وعزاء لهم.
