لقد اعتمدنا في إخراج الكتاب على مخطوطتين، وثلاث نسخ قديمة وبهامشها تقريرات للعلامة الأجهوري.
أما الأولى فهي مخطوط جامعة الرياض، وهي نسخة حسنة، خطها نسخ حسن، أضرب الأرضة ببعض الصفحات، وهي بخط إبراهيم بن أبي السعود، وتاريخ النسخ سنة 1274هـ، والثانية فهي مخطوط جامعة النجاح الوطنية، وهي نسخة حسنة أيضاً، والثالثة هي نسخة المطبة البولاقية، والرابعة نسخة المطبعة البهية المصرية المطبوعة سنة 1302 هجرية، والرابعة هي نسخة الحلبي.
[تنبيه]: لم أثبت الفروق بين النسخ بالهامش، بل أثبت في صلب الكتاب ما رأيته أنسب وأصلح للعبارة، وأكتفيت بذلك؛ لأني أردت أن يكون الهامش خالصاً للتعليقات والتقريرات.
وقد جعلت التراجم في نهاية الكتاب مرتبة على التقدم والسبق الزماني، ولم أجعلها في الهامش لنفس الغرض السابق.
وقد أضفت بعض عناوين ليسهل تنازل الكتاب على الطالب المبتدئ.
وقد زينتُ هامش الكتاب أولاً بتقريرات العلامة الأجهوري، وقد أشرت إليها بقولي في آخر بعبارة [تقرير أجمهوري]، وثانياً ببعض تنبيهات وإشارات ولطائف وتحقيقات قد جلبتها من كبار المطولات والحواشي لتمم الفائدة للإخوان.
