لا شك أن اسم جحا من أكثر الأسماء الفكاهية إشتهاراً في العالميين العربي والشرقي، حيث اضحكت نوادره ملايين من البشر لأجيال مختلفة على مدار عصور وليومنا هذا.
من هذا الإهتمام اللا محدود بشخصيته ونوادره الشيقة وأسلوبه الطريف الذي اتبعه برز جحا كشخصية محبوبة إلى النفوس القريبة على القلوب.
عُرف عن جحا بأنه رجل بسيط لا مال له ولا جاه ولا سلطان، يرتدي العمامة البيضاء والزبون العربي كما شاع في لباس أهل ذلك الزمان، كما كان له حمار يرتبط دائماً بنوادره فكأنه صاحبه ورفيق دربه.
اقتبس جحا شخصيات عدة، فمرة كريما سخياً أو بخيلاً مقتراً، ومرة متسامحاً عفواً أو عنيداً متعصباً، ومرة هاذلاً ماذحاً أو حاداً صلباً.
من هنا صار جحا مضرب الأمثال عند الأجيال، ولا نجزم بأن كل ما نقل عنه حقيقة وواقع، فمن حكى نكتة أو طرفة أو جاء بقصة فكاهية أو سالفة هزلية نسبها إلى جحا عفوياً من دون قصد، لأن الفكر يتجه في مثل هذه الأمور إلى جحا وأضحوكاته، وهذا سر الإهتمام بجحا ونوادره، فصنعوا من شخصيته المسلسلات التلفزيونية والأفلام السينمائية والمسرحيات الفكاهية، وطبعت نوادره مرات عديدة بصور مختلفة وبلغات عدة.
كما درست نوادره وحكاياته الطريفة في المدارس والمعاهد والجامعات، وترجمت إلى لغات كبيرة، فلم يبق أحد في المشرق والمغرب إلا وسمع عن نوادر جحا وتأثيرها في النفوس.
لهذه الأسباب قمنا بجمع بعض المختارات من نوادر جحا، وقد أضفنا بها شيئاً من نسيج خيالنا مما يلائم هذه النوادر، متمنيين للقراء الإستمتاع والمؤانسة بها.
