"لا تمل من افتراشها الريح والكائنات الحية. في النهار، تنبسط ميثاء حتى آخر حدود النور. ترفو سطوحها روغان العين في تداخلات الضوء والرمل. تردها بلمحة واحدة إلى مسطحات القيعان ونعومة المنزلقات الضوئية الشائعة في الحصى. تقودها عبر الرعشات الطافرة إلى التراب وتموجاته في الأفق الرحب الشاسع. إلى التل المتأرجح في أقصى المدى بين الشيء ونقيضه. تصحو العين على حين غرة في رمل عتيد ليس له نهاية، فتروح بين خداع البصر وحقيقته تستنفذ الرعشة تلو الأخرى دافعة بالمطاردة إلى أبعد مدى. إلى هتك أوهام الرؤية ومكايد السراب. بيد أن العين توهن وتبدأ تتراقص فيها تصادير طائشة لكائنات مبهمة غير مستأنسة تعيش في الظن وتنمو في الصمت والحنين ودموع الإجهاد والكلل. من بعيد، يبدو الحجر ناقة باركة. والجذع الوحيد العاري يبدو ناسكاً في صلاة. من هناك، قد يأتي العيش طافياً على ضوء الشمس البارقة في بطن السماء.. في الوهج الساطع تمتلئ ميثاء بالوقت والرؤية والأوهام وغبش السراب وملاحقات العيون الصغيرة والكبيرة، للأشياء البعيدة الساكنة والمتحركة، المألوفة والغريبة، وللأشياء البعيدة الساكنة والمتحركة، المألوفة والغريبة، وللأشياء القريبة الواقعة في متناول الهدب. تمتلىء بالتراب والحصى والشجر وحجور الكائنات القابعة تحت الأرض، والبراثن المدمات والمستكنة، والريح وصمت الظهيرات الموحش، وعراك ذكور الماعز على العشب والإناث، واللون الأبيض الوديع الغالب على قطعان الضأن، وعمار البراري المطمورين بالشمغ والثياب الرمادية الخلقة".
من صمت الصحراء تنبعث خيالات عواض شاهر العصيمي آخذة بالقارئ عبر مساحات تتساح فيها نفسه عبر مناخات تقربه إلى ذاك العام الميثولوجي الطافح بتهويمات مبعثها رياح الصحراء ورمالها الحاملة سحر القصة وروعة العطاء الأدبي الروائي.
