إن المدخل الحقيقي للنظر إلى فكر ما بعد الحداثة، هو أن تقرأه في سياق الهزات الفكرية والأيديولوجية التي أصابت البشرية، لا أن نكرر بشكل مستمر أنه يعمم الفوضى ويدعو إلى غياب القيم والعدمية. إنّ رفضنا لبعض الأفكار لا يجب أن يعمينا عن رؤية النقد الجرىء الذي تمكن هذا الفكر عن طريقه من كشف تناقضات الحداثة والتباساتها. وإذا كان نصرّ على التعامل مع هذا الفكر بشكل وثوقي كما فعلنا مع غيره من قبل، فإنه من واجبنا الاستفادة من الأفكار الجديدة للتفكير في أزماتنا واجتراح منافذ أو طرق جديدة من أجل التغيير.
ضمن هذه الشواغل كتبت هذه الدراسات التي سعت إلى مقاربة فصول من الفكر الغربي ضمن سياقه التاريخي، للنظر في أزمة الحداثة وتلمّس معالم هذه الأزمة التي تخلق من داخلها بذور حداثة جديدة أطلق عليها "ما بعد الحداثة"، والبحث عن أصولها الفكرية عن طريق المساءلة التي يمارسها هذا الفكر لمل من نيتشه وهيدغر، وارتباطها مع تحولات العالم وظاهرة العولمة.
كما يجري السؤال عن "صدام الحضارات" وتتبع الخلفيات التاريخية التي سبقت ظهور هذه المقولة والظروف التي منحتها وهجها وجاذبيتها، والتعرض لمقولة "حوار الحضارات" التي جرى طرحها كبديل، ولا سيما أن هذه المصطلحات باتت أساسية بعد أحداث 11 أيلول.
فالهاجس الذي تنطلق منه دراسات الكتاب جميعها هو التفكير في مستقبل مختلف، ولأن الفكر ما بعد الحداثي يمثل الفكر الأكثر حضوراً لذلك جرى بحث هذه الظاهرة من وجوهها المختلفة.
