وهذا الكتاب يحتوي على مختارات رائعة من هذه الزهور، انتقاها الدكتور "هاشم صالح مناع" من تلك الرياض، مختلفة في: ألوانها، وأشكالها، وطولها، وحجمها، وعطرها، وشذاها، وصورها... وأخذ على عاتقة القيام بتهذيبها، وتشذيبها، وتنقيحها، وتنسيقها، وترتيبها، حتى خرجت هذه المختارات من تحت يديه بحلل قشيبة، وأثواب جديدة، إذ حرص على تفسيرها، وشرحها، والتعليق عليها، والتعريف بناظمها، منبهاً على مصادرها، مرتباً موضوعاتها، واضعاً إياها بين أيدي القراء، بعد أن غدت لوحة فنية جميلة.
ومما تجدر الإشارة إليه هو أن هذه الأزهار قد جاءت متنوعة الموضوعات فبعضها عبارة عن خطب ورسائل كرسالة ابن برد الأصغر في السيف والقلم وخطبة طارق بن زياد في فتح الأندلس، هذا على صعيد النثر، أما على صعيد الشعر فالمختارات المنتقاة إما جاءت قصائد في الغزل، والمديح، والرثاء والوصف، والشكوى، وأما أبيات في الحكمة والغربة والحنين.
كما واحتوى الكتاب على ثلاثة موشحات هي موشحة ابن زمرك في مدح المصطفى صلى وموشحة ابن سهل الإسرائيلي، أبي إسحاق، وموشحة الوزير أبي عبد الله لسان الدين بن الخطيب، هذا إلى جانب نبذة خاصة عرفت بالموشح وبأقسامه...
