يطلع القارئ في هذا الكتاب على ما يوجههة المؤلف من انتقاد الى طريقة التفكير السببي التي اعتاد عليها العقل البشري والتي تقسم الحقيقة الكلية الى حقائق جزئية أصغر وأقل كما لا تنتظم في مستويات أفقية متراكبة بعضها فوق بعض ارتفاعاً ودنواً حسب درجة تعقيدها بحيث ترتبط حقائق المستوى الواحد بسلاسل العلاقات السببية.
ويرى المؤلف أن هذا النمط من التفكير وحيد الجانب لا يسمح بالوصول الى الحقيقة بل يبقينا أسرى الحقائق الجزئية. وهو يحاول تصويب التفكير السببي وإكماله بطرح مقولة إن الحقائق ترتبط فيما بينها بعلاقات عمودية تخترق تلك المستويات الأفقية للحقيقة وتشكل سلاسل منطقية تقوم على مبدأ القياس, بحيث تنتظم الحقائق جميعها في النهاية في شبكة من العلاقات الأفقية والعمودية في آن معاً, لتشكل في مجموعها الحقيقة الكلية الكاملة. ويستند المؤلف في طروحاته الى مبدأ القطبية كطريقة تفكير شاملة. ويطرح نتائج تجاربه الطبية لسنين طويلة في مجال ما يسميه فن شفاء المرضى. وتشكل طروحات المؤلف في كتابه هذا شبكة من الأفكار الجريئة التي تؤسس لوضع فلسفة شاملة تحاول الاجابة عن التساؤلات الكبرى التي طرحها الانسان.
