نظرا لأهمية هذا الكتاب وما تناوله من مناقشات رأيت ان أبدا بترجمة الباب الاخير منه - الخاص بنظرية المعرفة - على أساس انه يلخص ما جاء في الابواب الثلاثة السابقة له من الكتاب، وأن أقدم له بعرض تحليلي لفصوله المختلفة من جهة ولنظرية ليبنتز في المعرفة من جهة اخرى وهى نظرية تتفق مع وجهة نظره الشمولية والتى ترجع خطأ كل من ديكارت ولوك الى تجاهل كل منهما عاملا من العاملين الهامين في المعرفة وهما الضروري والعرضي يمكن قبول نظرية ديكارت اذا كانت المعرفة كلها ضرورية ويمكن قبول نظرية لوك اذا كانت المعرفة كلها عرضية والحقيقه في نظرية ليبنتز - أن المعرفة الانسانية تحتوي عليهما معا والنظرية الصحيحة هى التى تضمهما معا وهي تلك التى انتهى اليها.
