"المقاومة" فعل إنساني نبيل يدل بإستمرار على مدى قدرة الإنسان ورغبته الدائمة في التطور وصنع التقدم، وللمقاومة بوصفها فعلاً إنسانياً صوراً عديدة؛ فمنها المقاومة السلبية التي قد يكتفي فيها الإنسان بالإستنكار الداخلي (أي بقلبه) ومنها الإيجابي الذي يبدأ بالجهر برفض أي أفعال أو أقوال لا يرضى عنها وقد يتطور به الحال إلى الإحتجاج بصور شتى قد يكون من بينها التظاهر أو الإعتصام أو الثورة... إلخ.
وداخل هذا الإطار العام للمقاومة نجد أنواعاً لها؛ فهناك المقاومة السياسية وهناك المقاومة الإجتماعية والإقتصادية، كما أن هناك المقاومة الفكرية، أي المقاومة بالأفكار حيث يمكن للفيلسوف بأفكاره أن يقاوم الصور السلبية التي يراها في مجتمعه وينقدها بعد رصدها وتحليلها، كما يمكنه مقاومة هذه السلبيات بالدعوة إلى صورة جديدة للحياة الإجتماعية والأخلاقية والسياسية والإقتصادية وهذا ما عُرف في تاريخ الفلسفة باليوتوبيات.
من هنا، تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب الذي بين يديك عزيزي القارئ؛ فهو يلقي الضوء على البدايات الأولى للفلسفة بوصفها دعوة للتغيير والمقاومة؛ حيث تعاظم دور فلاسفة اليونان في صنع حضارتهم الفتية وذلك بما حفلت به فلسفاتهم من دعوة دائمة إلى التطور والتجديد ومقاومة كل الصور السلبية في مجتمعهم سواء في مجال الفكر النظري أو في مجالات الحياة المختلفة.
