عاش أهل قرية "المنسية" مستسلمين لكذبة عاشت في خيالهم؛ بأنّ سقفاً للأحلام بُني فوق قريتهم التي كانت مليئة بالحياة والمرح والجمال، ليصبح حال القرية كئيباً لا حياة فيها، حتى نسي الناس أحلامهم، وأيقنوا أن لا يستطيعوا أن يحلموا أو يفكروا بالحلم، فسور الأحلام يمنعهم من التفكير بالأحلام، لينبري فتى اسمه علي للتحقق من سقف الأحلام، فيصعد في الفضاء مرات ومرات حتى يصل إلى القمر ويخبره القمر بأن لا وجود لأي سقف للأحلام، فيعود لقريته ويبشرهم بكذبة وجود السقف، ليحتفل الجميع بهذه المناسبة الجميلة ويزينوا قريتهم التي سادها الحزن والكآبة، ويعودوا إلى ما كانوا عليه من رؤية أحلامهم السعيدة، ليستيقظوا في الصباح ويحققوها، فالأمة التي لا تحلم تموت.
