حالما انتهيت من كتابة النص، أحسست أنني خرجت من حياة ثم عدت إلى حياة أخرى، شعرت بفراغ يغمرني ويأخذني بقوة إلى ارتباك النهايات. كنت مستمتعاً بعالم آخر قد صنعته بنفسي وبأشخاص آخرين قد أصبحوا أصدقائي .. عايشتهم برفق ولم أكن لأقسو عليهم حتى عندما يداهمني الغضب أو النضوب .. أحببتهم جميعاً ولم أكره أحداً منهم حتى دناءاتهم لم تكن ثقيلة. سكنت في دواخلهم وسكنوا بداخلي .. كانوا يذهبون معي إلى كل مكان .. إلى غرفة النوم، إلى المقهى، إلى الحمام .. لا بل أصبحت أشرب معهم القهوة وأتجادل معهم وأفكر في مصيرهم إلى درجة بات من الصعب علي طردهم أو تصفيتهم .. قلت ذات مرة لإحدى صديقاتي الواقعيات: "أنا عائد الآن إلى البيت، لألتقي مع شاهي شهبار". سألتني من تكون؟ أجبتها: إحدى بطلات روايتي الجديدة .. لقد أحببتها .. أنا الذي رسمتها على الورق. والآن أريد أن ألتهمها كمن صنع تمثالاً من الحلوى ثم أكله.
هكذا يعيش الروائي. فهو يكتب حياة أخرى، متدفقة، ذات إيقاعات متصاعدة ومتوترة، مصنوعة من بؤس العزلة، فتصبح أكثر متعة من الحياة الواقعية، الرتيبة والكتيبة التي نعيشها، والتي لا تتدخل كثيراً في مجراها إلا وهمياً! وبذلك فهو يصنع من عزلته أقصى درجات متعته .. وها إني أدعو القراء إلى مشاركتي في هذه المتعة، فأقول: أن من حرم نفسه من متعة القراءة، عاش حياة واحدة بائسة .. ومن عاش عزلة الكتابة، عاش حياة مليئة بالمتع ..!
