قرأت الكتاب فأعجبني، فإذا نظر فيه من يطالعه وجه فيه الفائدة الكبيرة والسهلة.
وضع مؤلفه الأستاذ الفنان ممدوح قشلان الصور والرسوم شواهد للغرض الذي يريد أن يؤيده ، واعتمد أسلوب السؤال والجواب فإذا قرأته شعرت أنك بين يدي معلم إن سألته رأيت الجواب حاضراً.
وبهذا انتقل الكتاب من أسلوب الأخبار كما في كتب الثقافة الفنية إلى أسلوب حي يجعلك أمام حوار في كلية أو محاضرة في جامعة.
ولا شك أن في ذلك من التوفيق الذي حظي به الفنان المؤلف، وأحسب أن هذا الكتاب يجعل فنانينا الشباب يعيشون حقيقة ما عاناه الفنانون الأوائل المخلصون والغيورون ليكتمل المشوار ويتصل الماضي بالحاضر والمستقبل، فترتفع همتهم بعد الإطلاع والإستزادة بما اهتدوا إليه وانفردوا به.
نقرأ في هذا الكتاب عن طبيعة النشاط الإبداعي، التشكيلي في سورية وعن حياة الفنانين المتوفيين وحكاياتاهم مع الفن وأساليبهم التي اعتمدوها في إنجاز أعماله الفنية وعلاقاتهم، وصلاتهم بعضهم مع بعض في قصص طريفة. تناول اهتمام المؤلف الفنان قشلان في هذا الكتاب المركز والمكثف بعض القضايا الرئيسية في الفن، ووقفة خاصة عند المحاور التي أحاطت بالفنانين من النواحي التاريخية والفكرية والعلمية والثقافية إضافة إلى الفنية. وابتعد عن التفاصيل غير الضرورية واكتفى بالإشارة الموجزة عن حياة الفنان وعن أهم أعماله الفنية. وسرد بعض ما تم الحوار حولها.
ولا شك في أن هذا الأسلوب في وضوحه وشدة تأثيره جاء منطقياً ومشوقاً وأخيراً جزى الله المؤلف الفنان قشلان خيراً، وأتاه من القدرة ما يستطيع به أن يطلع علينا بكتب فنية مفيدة جيدة.
