تنبع أهمية هذه القضية من أنها: أولاً: تعالج تميّز عرض القرآن الكريم لها، وفقاً لأهدافه من ربط حقيقة العبودية بحقيقة الألوهية - ذاتاً وصفاتٍ - وذلك بتزويد الإنسان بتفسير هذه الحقائق الكبرى اللازمة له، كي يتعامل معها وينظم حياته وفقاً لمقتضياتها، ولكن هذه القضية لم تخلُ بعد ذلك من محاولات عقلية لشرحها، وبيانها، والتوفيق بين التصور الديني والتصور الفلسفي لها، بشكل جعل من هذه القضية مشكلة تحتاج إلى بحث.
ثانياً: هذه القضية ليست قضية فلسفية وبمعزل عن النص القرآني، والحديث النبوي، لأنها وجدت في ظل مجتمع إسلامي كان النص الديني هو الأساس الأول في حياته وتفكيره، بل هو المميز الأساسي لشخصيته، ثالثاً: والجانب الإلهي من تفكير هذا المجتمع، من المفروض أن ينبع من الكتاب والسنة ويعمل بمنهجهما، ولكن دخول الفكر الوافد، وإطلاع المفكرين المسلمين عليه، ومحاولة التوفيق بينه وبين الدين، أخرج لنا فكراً جديداً يغلب عليه طابع الترف العقلي، وسبّب إنحرافاً وإتجاهاً غريباً عن التصور الإسلامي الأصيل، وكانت هذه القضية إحدى القضايا التي تأثرت بهذا الموضوع الفكري للأمة، بل وانفردت بوفرة الآراء وعمق التفكير مما ساعد في ظهور المدارس الإسلامية الفكرية المختلفة.
رابعاً: هذا كله يجعل الحاجة ماسة لبيان جذور هذه القضية - علاقة صفات الله تعالى بذاته - للحكم على مدى إنضباط العقلية الإسلامية بالمنهج الإسلامي، في بيان جانب مهم من جوانب الفكر الديني، بل والحكم على الأصيل من الدخيل، في فكر المدارس الإسلامية المختلفة التي مثلت دوراً كبيراً على المسرح الفكري، وما زالت ممكنة التأثير على العقلية الإسلامية، في أي فرصة تعود فيها الحياة الفكرية الإسلامية إلى النشاط.
