يناقش هذا الكتاب النظرية العامة للتنفيذ القضائي في قانون المرافعات وعلم قانون أصول المحاكمات المدنية. وفيه يعقد المؤلف دراسة مقارنة تتضمن تحليلاً وتأصيلاً بين القانون اللبناني والقانون المصري مع الإشارة إلى بعض أحكام القضاء الفرنسي. وعلى هذا يتطرق البحث إلى أولية التنفيذ القضائي، وفكرة الحماية القضائية التنفيذية، وموقع قواعد التنفيذ القضائي من قانون أصول المحاكمات المدنية وفيها يدرس الإشكالات القانونية التي تقع عند امتناع المدين عن الوفاء بالتزاماته المالية، والإعتبارات الإنسانية التي أخذ بها المشرع وفق النصوص المرعية الإجراء.
تأتي أهمية الخوض في قانون المرافعات برأي الكاتب من كون قانون المرافعات ليس علماً مجرداً، بل هو قبل ذلك أقرب القوانين إلى الواقع العملي وهو حلقة الوصل بين القانون الموضوعي والواقع. "ولذلك فإنه إذا كان التأصيل بالمعنى السابق ضرورة علمية فإن التحليل ضرورة عملية لكل الباحثين عن الحقيقة سواء في ذلك العالم أو المتعلم، القاضي او المتقاضي". وفي هذا يقول الدكتور أحمد مسلم أن "جهد يوم في التأصيل ينبغي أن يسبقه جهد عام في التحليل، وأن التأصيل مقدمة ضرورية لتحليل جديد".
يقسم العمل إلى جزئين؛ يبحث الجزء الأول في أركان التنفيذ الجبري، أما الجزء الثاني فجاء في طرق التنفيذ القضائي.
