كتابان في كتاب واحد، أولهما تاريخ بعلبك تلك المدينة القديمة الشهيرة بقلعتها العظيمة وآثارها الشامخة، عرف المؤلف أولاً بجغرافيتها وقضاها ومحصولاته، قبل أن يسرد الأقوال الشائعة عن اسمها ومن بنى فيها وعباداتها حيث يعرض كذلك لتاريخها. كما أنه يعرض لتاريخ المدينة الكنسي ويذكر أساقفتها الكاثوليكيين والقديسين والمشهورين الذين نبغوا منها ويأتي على وصف الآثار العظيمة الشأن الهائلة البيان.
وأما الكتاب الثاني فهو "حلة الذهب الأبريز في رحلة بعلبك والبقاع العزيز"، كتبه أحد الرحالة العرب الذي أنتج عدداً كبيراً من المؤلفات في فنون مختلفة حلة الذهب الإبريز كتبه بعد أن قام بزيارته إلى بعلبك وللبقاع بقصد زيارة ما فيها من الأولياء والصالحين ورؤية الأصحاب والأجانب كما يقول في أول كتابه. وقد ترك النابلسي في رحلته وصفاً لبعض المدن التي زارها، وحاول ضبط أسماء كثيرة من القوى والمدن التي مرّ بها مستشهداً بما ورد في كتب اللغة أو ما ذكره الجغرافيون عنها.
وقد اتبع النابلسي في كتابه رحلته طريقة السجع، التي كانت شائعة في عصره لكنه أكثر من الشعر في خلالها كما أنه خلط الجد بالهزل.
