Mohammad Rabie was born in 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering in 2002. His first novel, Amber Planet, was released in 2010 and won the First Prize in the Emerging Writers category of the Sawiris Cultural Award Competition in 2011.
His second novel, Year of the Dragon, was released in 2012.
Otared, his third novel, was published in early 2015 to much fan fare and was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2016 (popularly referred to as the Arabic Booker).
Book Description
تتبلور أزمة الفكر الصهيوني المعاصر بشكل عام في ظاهرتين هما: طبيعة الموضوعات التي يعالجها، ثم أسلوب هذه المعالجة. ويصلح كثير من الموضوعات التي يطرقها المفكرون الصهيونيون كنماذج يمكن الاستشهاد بها في إثبات ذلك. ولكي تكون هذه الدراسة أقرب ما يكون إلى واقع الصراع الناشب الآن في المنطقة العربية ثم انتقاء أربعة موضوعات رئيسية درس عن طريقها جوانب وأعراض تلك الأزمة.
يتناول الفصل الأول مناقشة لآراء عدد من المفكرين والزعماء والفلاسفة الصهيونيين الذين يدعون إلى إنشاء دولة إسرائيل تم بالجهود الذاتية التي قامت بها الحركة الصهيونية والجماعات اليهودية. وفي الفصل الثاني تم البحث في الأساليب المختلف التي لجأ إليها المفكرون الصهيونيون لتبرير التوسع الإقليمى الذي قامت بع إسرائيل وكذلك التوسع الذي تزمع القيام به مستقبلاً.
وبحث الفصل الثالث العلاقات التي قامت بين الحركة الصهيونية ودولة إسرائيل من جانب وبين قوى الثورة العالمية من جانب آخر، وهنا تم تبيان ما إذا كانت هذه العلاقات تجيز ادعاءهم بأن إسرائيل وليدة حركة تقدمية وأنها مركز التحرر في الشرق الأوسط. وفي الفصل الرابع تمت دراسة الادعاء الشائع بأن إسرائيل دولة ديمقراطية.
