يتناول الكتاب ملامح من تاريخ اليابان وحاضرها، يعطي بعض التفاصيل عن دمار مدينتيه بالقنبلة الذرية الأمريكية، كما يتناول الطبيعة اليابانية التي تتصف بالإصرار على العمل وعلى تخطي الصعاب والوقوف في مصاف الأمم المتقدمة، ويقدم كذلك وصفاً لأديان اليابان ومعابدها ومتاحفها وجامعاتها وجمال طبيعتها.
وفي ماليزيا يتناول الكتاب تلك التجربة الرائدة في بناء دولة حديثة يتجول في طبيعتها الخلابة ومحافظة شعبها على الطبيعة الخضراء للبلاد، كما يتناول بعض مظاهر التقدم والبناء لدى الشعب الماليزي الذي لم يمض على صناعة أول سيارة بأيد ماليزية سنوات معدودة حتى أصبح ما يزيد على ثمانين في المئة من السيارات في ماليزيا هي من صنع الماليزيين.
وأما هونج كونج فعلى الرغم من أنها عاصمة الضوضاء والضجيج والتلوث الضوئي والبيئي فإن مؤشر هونج كونج يعد أحد أهم المؤشرات الإقتصادية في العالم، هذه الجزيرة التي كانت مستأجرة أصبحت جزءاً من الصين الأم وبدأت الثقافة الصينية تحل تدريجياً محل الثقافة الأجنبية الدخيلة.
وكوريا صنعت المعجزة كما يقال؛ ففي أقل من نصف قرن تنتقل كوريا من دولة نامية إلى مصاف الدول الصناعية، فكيف إستطاع الكوريون أن ينتقلوا من الحكم العسكري إلى النظام الحزبي والشفافية والمحاسبية وبينوا نهضة تستحق الدراسة والتأمل؟.
