في كتابها "الفكر الصوفي" تتوقف الدكتورة نظلة أحمد الجبوري حول دور الصوفية في صياغة المصطلح الصوفي ونشره، وتوظيف المصطلح من خلال منهج موحد، تمّ تعميقه عبر لغة متفردة أسهمت بدورها في إغناء الفكر الصوفي مصطلحاً، ومنهجاً، موضوعاً ومضموناً.
ولتوثيق معرفة القارىء بالفكر الصوفي، تقدم الكاتبة مقاربات فكرية لمتصوفة الإسلام، تتحرى من خلال ذلك اساليب التعبير عن فكرهم وتجاربهم، فبرأيها "المصطلح الصوفي رتب أو نظم وفقاً لمنهج محدد وعلى وفق سياق خبرة لغوية غنية عميقة ولغة صوفية دقيقة قائمة على اساس من الوعي بمهمة الألفاظ ومعانيها وإدراك تام لدلالاتها من جانب؛ ولماهية التداخل بين المصطلح والمنهج واللغة من جانب آخر، وما تؤشر من ملامح تجربة صوفية، كُنهها معرفة (الله عزّ وجلّ) وحبه، أو معرفته وحبه إتساقاً مع المنحى الصوفي من أحبهُ عرفهُ ومن عرفهُ أحبهُ ..". ووفقاً لتلك الرؤية ترى الكاتبة أنه على الرغم من الأختلاف الواضح لدى المتصوفة أنفسهم في التعبير عن ذواتهم وفكرهم لاختلاف مشاربهم وشعورهم وطرائق تعايشهم مع تجاربهم. فهذا لم يمنع من وجود تقارب وتفاهم بين المتصوفة، يكشف عن الجوانب الروحية والفكرية والسلوكية لهم، بل ويكشف عن منطق تجاربهم من خلال المصطلح والمنهج واللغة. وهو ما يدور الحديث عنه في هذه الدراسة، وقد انتظمت في أربعة فصول، يبحث الفصل الأول في دور المصطلح في تفعيل الفكر الصوفي (دوائر المصطلح الصوفي)، بينما يبحث الفصل الثاني في منهج التأويل في الفكر الصوفي (مقاربات فلسفية). أما الفصل الثالث فتركز حول: البنية اللغوية في الفكر الصوفي (اللغة التعبيرية – رمزية الحروف – الرمز الرياضي وغيرها). ويأتي الفصل الرابع والأخير في: المضمون المقارباتي لتجربة الصوفي الروحية. وأخيراً (ملحق) عن: التأويل في الخطاب الفلسفي العراقي المعاصر – نماذج منتخبة – لـ (أ.د. حسن العبيدي).
