لقد هيأ الله عزّ وجلّ لخدمة دينه الحنيف صفوة من الرجال زوّدهم بالعقول النيرة والقلوب الواعية، وأرشدهم إلى طريق الحق القويم، ووفقهم إلى إلتزام منهج السلف الصالح، وغرس في نفوسهم الهّمة العالية، فأنفقوا حياتهم في خدمة هذا الدين، والدفاع عن العقيدة الصافية.
ومن هؤلاء العلماء الشيخ "محمد الأمين الشنقيطي" الذي كان ذا علم واسع، وعقلية فذة، وحجة مقنعة، وحافظة قوية، وذكاء مفرط، وفهم دقيق لعقيدة السلف الصالح، وقد ضمّ إلى ذلك العلمَ بالجدل والمنطق، والخبرة بالبحث والمناظرة، وقد درّس الشيخ في الجامعة الإسلامية زمناً، فتخرج على يديه نخبة طيبة من أبناء العالم الإسلامي.
أما هذا الكتاب فهو رسالة جامعية ألّفه فصيلة الشيخ "عبد العزيز بن صالح الطويان"، وهو أحد منسوبي قسم العقيدة في الجامعة الإسلامية فهو يُعَرِّف بجهود الشيخ "محمد الأمين الشنقيطي" ويُدَرِّس منهجه في تقرير عقيدة سلف الأمة، وقد اتضح ذلك من خلال تقسيم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أبواب وخاتمة، خُصِّص الباب الأول للتعريف بحياة الشيخ الشخصية والعلمية، وأفردَ الثاني لتوضيح جهود الشيخ في الإيمان بالله تعالى، وجُعِلَ الثالث لبيان جهوده في توضيح بقية مباحث الإيمان.
