كيف يبدو الدربُ لا آخرَ له، لا ملامحَ تقطعُ تِكراريَّته المرعبة كصحراءٍ من رملٍ، مستوٍ، يمتدُّ منَ الأفقِ إلى أقصى حدود الأفق؟!
لا الدربُ يتوقّف بي، ولا قدماي تخوناني فأتوقف.
فجأةً، تخرجُ من تحت الرَّمل حِيتانٌ تتقافزُ كأنَّها بين موجةٍ وموجة، تنهضُ تلالاً، ثم ينشقُّ التَّلُ عن حوتٍ يفغر فكّيه عن أسنانٍ تذكّرني بوصفي لماهل بن جمعة، القادمِ إلى حارة المكاتيب كما حدَّدتُ له المكان والزمان.
أبالغ في إغماض عيني إتقاء لمزيد من الرعب يتداعى من بين يدي ومن خلفي.
